About us

Originally established in Abergavenny in 1847 as a stone mason, Robert Price Builders' Merchants Ltd has seen many progressive changes during its history. A commitment to the professional builder and local tradesman has always been our priority, but now the DIY enthusiast and self builder also represent a very important part of our customer base. Robert Price is now the largest independent builders' merchant in South Wales.

The headquarters remain at Abergavenny with a total of seventeen branches from Swansea in the West to Chepstow in the East. Fourteen branches are general builders' merchants with four of these also have fantastic kitchen and bathroom showrooms featuring the very latest in kitchen and bathroom design. We also operate one Timber & Roofing merchant, one Roofing merchant and one specialist Insulation branch.

As a major employer and supplier in the South Wales area, we at Robert Price  believe that we should give something back to our local community. We sponsor a number of local charities and sports teams - from the Welsh Premiership champions, Newport RFC,to a range of amateur childrens' sports clubs and societies.

The current directors of Robert Price are fifth generation descendents of the founder. We are still a family run business with working directors actively involved in all aspects of the company. Robert Price currently employs around 250 staff. The company policy is to train and develop its workforce. The opportunities within Robert Price are many and varied.
