Robert Price contributes to school’s Royal Welsh ‘Wooden Cow’

Robert Price Builders’ Merchants helped pupils at Llanbedr Church in Wales School by sponsoring their ‘Wooden Cow’ as part of a food and farming initiative devised by the educational group, Cows on Tour.

The aim of the ‘Wooden Cow – Grown Your Own’ initiative is to encourage children to think about where their food comes from, and to recognise the role farmers play in food production.

Pupils at schools across the country, including Llanbedr, could decorate their cow however they wanted and were also asked to write up to 200 words on their idea, giving explanation of their interpretation of ‘Grow Your Own’.

Selected ‘Wooden Cows’ took pride of place at the recent Smallholding and Countryside Festival at the Royal Welsh Showground and all proceeds from the initiative raised funds for the DPJ Foundation and farming charity - RABI.

Molly Pike, Marketing Manager at Robert Price said:

“The children have written to thank us for our support, with some fantastic drawings of their cow on a giant thank you card.

“It’s great to see the children practicing their green fingers and learning more about where their food comes from at the school’s gardening club.

“We think the Llanbedr entry was fantastic – such a great array of vibrant colour in the decoration and careful planting. We especially like the cow’s wellies. Well done to all involved!”
