Jane Bryant MS Visits the Sustainable Energy Centre

We were pleased to welcome Housing Minister Jayne Bryant MS to our Newport branch recently for an in-depth look at the work we’re doing to support sustainable construction and skills development within the industry.

Exploring Our Sustainable Energy Centre

During the visit, the Minister toured our Sustainable Energy Centre, where she learned more about how we are helping customers and industry partners access the latest in sustainable building technologies. The centre showcases a wide range of low-carbon solutions and provides specialist advice to support greener, more efficient construction across Wales.

The discussion also focused on how our specialist branches continue to drive innovation, create new employment opportunities, and provide the expertise needed as the construction sector works towards a more sustainable future.

Supporting Skills for Tomorrow

A key moment of the visit was the signing of the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) Apprenticeship Pledge by our Managing Director, William Godfrey. By committing to the pledge, we are reinforcing our support for developing the next generation of construction professionals.

The BMF aims to create 15,000 apprenticeships across its membership by 2030. We’re proud to contribute to this goal and to help ensure the industry has the skills and talent it needs for the years ahead.

Looking Ahead

We’d like to thank Jayne Bryant MS for taking the time to visit the branch and learn more about our work. Supporting sustainable construction and investing in future skills remain key priorities for us, and we look forward to continuing our contribution to a more resilient and forward-thinking construction sector in Wales.
