Robert Price Celebrates National Apprenticeship Week
How Apprenticeships Are Shaping the Next Generation
As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we are celebrating the incredible talent and dedication of apprentices across our business and beyond. At Robert Price, we are passionate about supporting apprenticeships and helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in their careers. From warehouse operations to customer service, construction trades, and more, apprenticeships give people the opportunity to learn, grow, and make a real impact from day one.
Hands-On Learning in Every Role
Harry chose an apprenticeship to build on his role as a warehouse operative and experience every part of warehouse life. No two days are the same — he spends time picking orders, completing forklift checks, and supporting different areas of the branch, while fitting in online learning around his normal working hours.
Working closely with drivers and the transport manager, Harry has gained insight into how all the different roles work together to keep the branch running smoothly. The apprenticeship has boosted his confidence, strengthened his teamwork skills, and helped him feel comfortable stepping in wherever support is needed.
Now fully qualified, Harry is looking ahead with ambitions to progress into a yard foreman or management role, demonstrating how apprenticeships can open doors to long-term career growth.
Building Confidence in Customer Service
Caitlin took a slightly different path, choosing an apprenticeship to build her confidence and develop her customer service skills. After meeting with the training provider and learning how the course would fit around her day-to-day role, she knew it was the right choice. Completing her apprenticeship entirely within working hours meant she could grow her skills without sacrificing personal time.
Her typical day involves answering calls, producing quotes, and arranging deliveries or collections, with quieter periods dedicated to her apprenticeship. One of her most valuable learnings has been how to ask the right questions to understand customers’ needs, a skill she now uses daily to provide a confident and effective service.
Having achieved her Level 2 Customer Service qualification, Caitlin is now working towards Level 3 and is keen to continue progressing within customer service, with aspirations to move into a management role. We are incredibly proud to share that she was recently named Apprentice of the Year, after being nominated by Gower College Swansea’s Apprenticeship programme, a fantastic recognition of her commitment, development, and impact in her role!
Equipping Apprentices with the Right Tools
Supporting apprentices goes beyond training and guidance. We are also proud to regularly provide bespoke toolkits to apprentices working with Caerphilly County Borough Council, helping them start their careers with the right equipment from day one.
These tailored toolkits are designed for apprentices across a variety of trades, including carpentry, electrics, and plastering. The apprentices use them as they support the Council’s repairs and improvements services throughout the borough.
Councillor Shayne Cook, Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
“Apprenticeships provide invaluable on-the-job experience and help us retain vital skills within Caerphilly Homes. I’d like to welcome our new apprentices to Team Caerphilly and thank Robert Price for supporting them as they begin their career journeys.”
Our Commitment to the Industry
In 2025, our Managing Director, William Godfrey, signed the Builders Merchants Federation Apprenticeship Pledge, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing the next generation of industry professionals. With the goal of supporting thousands of apprentices across the BMF membership by 2030, we are proud to play our part in shaping the future of construction.
The pledge champions recruitment, development, and education, ensuring a skilled and sustainable workforce for years to come. By investing in apprenticeships, we are not only supporting individual career journeys but also helping build a stronger, more resilient industry.
Why Apprenticeships Matter
Whether it’s gaining hands-on experience in a warehouse, developing customer service skills, or equipping tradespeople with the tools they need, apprenticeships provide a pathway to growth, confidence, and long-term success.
This National Apprenticeship Week, we are proud to celebrate all the apprentices making a difference in their roles and shaping the future of the industry.
