Robert Price Builders’ Merchants Ltd is a family run independent business, with head office in Abergavenny. Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern large enterprise and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.
Key responsibilities
- Dealing with sales and general customer enquiries.
- Being responsible for the pro-active development of specified customer accounts.
- Giving prices and quotations.
- Processing orders.
- Arranging deliveries.
- General sales office administration.
- Liaison with external representatives.

Essential skills & experience
- The ability to develop new business accounts, build excellent customer relationships, maximise profitable opportunities and consistently deliver a first class customer service.
- Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident selling skills.
- Good IT skills, (Excel, Outlook and Word especially), and excellent paperwork efficiency.
- The ability to multitask, to prioritise tasks wisely and complete them in a timely manner.
- The ability to grasp new systems quickly and follow company procedures and instructions. accurately, thoroughly and methodically (training will be given in our products and systems)
- General enthusiasm, confidence, reliability and versatility.
Desirable skills & experience
- Knowledge of timber products and their usage, an interest in the timber industry and good numeracy skills.
- A confident, enthusiastic, proactive and friendly personality.
- A commitment to consistently delivering first-class customer service.
- A motivated problem solver.
- Highly organised and reliable with good administrative efficiency.
- Adaptable and forward-thinking with a positive approach.
- Ability to use initiative and work well in a team as well as independently.
