Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern large enterprise and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales.

Key responsibilities

• Dealing with sales and general customer enquiries.
• Being responsible for the pro-active development of specified customer accounts.
• Giving prices and quotations.
• Processing orders.
• Arranging deliveries.
• General sales office administration.
• Liaison with external representatives.

Essential skills & experience

• The ability to develop new business accounts, build excellent customer relationships, maximise profitable opportunities and consistently deliver a first class customer service.
• Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
• Confident selling skills.
• Good IT skills, (Excel, Outlook and Word especially), and excellent paperwork efficiency.
• The ability to multitask, to prioritise tasks wisely and complete them in a timely manner.
• The ability to grasp new systems quickly and follow company procedures and instructions. accurately, thoroughly and methodically (training will be given in our products and systems)
• General enthusiasm, confidence, reliability and versatility.

Desirable skills & experience

• Knowledge of timber products and their usage, an interest in the timber industry and good numeracy skills.
