Robert Price Builders’ Merchants Ltd is a family run independent business, with head office in Abergavenny. Founded in 1847, we are a substantial local employer, with the developments and progressions of a modern SME, and the grounding and values of a traditional family run business. We are the largest independent builders’ merchant in South East Wales. A builders’ merchant is a company which supplies materials to the construction sector.

Key responsibilities

• General warehouse duties and stock management.
• Picking orders, loading and unloading and related paperwork.
• Customer service – dealing with customers in person.
• Driving forklift.
• The role offers scope to develop selling skills, customer service and an understanding of materials, stock control, orders and deliveries.

Essential skills & experience

• Counterbalance forklift licence.
• GCSE Maths (minimum grade C or a good understanding of metric and imperial measurements and basic mental arithmetic).
• Good paperwork skills.
• Confident communicator.
• Proven teamwork skills.
• Naturally tidy and organised.
• Willingness to engage with customers and provide good customer service.
• Ability to follow instructions and work unsupervised once trained.
• Reliable, industrious, adaptable and quick to grasp new concepts.
• Manual handling up to 25kg.

Desirable skills & experience

• Knowledge of roofing materials and their usage, an interest in the construction industry and good numeracy.
• Good arithmetic, preferably GCSE Maths grade C.
